Germany is actively assisting Pakistan in building a skilled workforce tailored for the expanding green economy.

During an official visit to Lahore, Martin Breitmaier, representing Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), met with recent graduates of the Solar PV Technician Training Centre. The initiative is designed to equip local technicians with certified technical expertise and practical resources to foster sustainable livelihoods.

Empowering Marginalized Communities and Returnees

The specialized training program places a strong emphasis on social inclusion by targeting marginalized demographics across the region.

Key achievements highlighted during the visit include:

• Vocational Skilling: Enrollees received professional certification in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) technical installation and maintenance.

• Targeted Outreach: The program specifically supports women and returning migrants seeking reintegration into the local labor market.

• Startup Toolkits: Graduates were provided with specialized startup toolkits to enable immediate entry into the workforce or micro-entrepreneurship.

Strengthening German-Pakistani Climate Cooperation

The initiative reflects Germany’s broader commitment to climate action and vocational education in Pakistan.

German Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel highlighted the milestone, emphasizing that building technical capacity is critical for long-term energy transition. By providing certified solar energy skills, the bilateral partnership aims to drive renewable energy adoption while creating economic opportunities for vulnerable communities.
